Qualifications

Please note: This recruitment may be used to fill multiple vacancies.
This position will receive a short-staffing temporary pay differential of 3.17% from July 1st 2024 - June 30th 2025.

About Grand Junction Regional Center:

Grand Junction Regional Center (GJRC) exists to provide person-centered quality healthcare, activities of daily living, and an active learning atmosphere in a safe and healthy environment for intellectually and developmentally disabled (IDD) individuals and individuals who may have behavioral health needs in addition to IDD. This work unit provides 24-hour treatment services that comply with State and Federal regulations.

This Health Care Technician III is responsible for ensuring that personal outcomes are achieved for people receiving services through the management of one or more day program settings and community or work activities.


As a Health Care Technician III, you can expect to:

  • Provide direct hands-on programming to individuals assigned to the day program area.
  • Act as coordinator for residential staff and up to 15 people in a day program or work setting.
  • Manage the operation of a primary work area or job site, keep work or program area organized and obtain equipment/supplies.
  • Orient new staff to the work area and to individuals’ programs.
  • Consistently act as a role model to staff. Act as a resource or advisor to others.
  • Identify training needs for staff and individuals receiving services as it relates to achieving outcomes in their work area.
  • Monitor the production of others; communicate to assigned staff specific expectations and provide feedback. Monitor individuals’ wages per Department of Labor regulations.
  • Ensure compliance by staff with Medical, Psychology, OT, Speech, Recreation, Habilitation, and PT needs and recommendations.
  • Assist therapists with specialized evaluations as required.

Education/Licensure/Certification/Experience:

  • High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

AND

  • Two (2) years of experience in an occupational field related to working with a population with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Substitutions:
Additional appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Special Qualifications:
Must be QMAP trained or hold a valid LPT license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Dependable, adaptable, and responsible.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Full background check: CDHS employees (all Direct contact with vulnerable persons): CBI name check and fingerprint check, ICON Colorado court database, Medicare fraud database, Reference Checks, Professional License verification (licensure requirements), Drug Screen, PREA (Division of Youth Services), Trails check (direct contact with children), CAPS (direct contact with adults – Mental Health Institutes, Regional Centers, Veterans Community Living Centers) and reference check required.
  • Must possess a valid, unrestricted U.S. Driver's License.
  • Shift Work – GJRC is a 24/7 facility, must be available to work any shift, any day and/or any area, to meet the agency needs.
  • Travel – Drive state car, van or bussette to various group homes, programming, admin & in community.
  • TB test is required, requires Influenza and other vaccines as required by state and facility; must be 18 years or older.
  • Pre-employment Physical/Tests – Exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
  • Annual recertification is required for “CORE” skills including CPR, suctioning, transfers and lift use, wheelchair securement, Safety Care.
