Health Care Technician I - Murdoch Developmental Center

Recruitment Range: $35,360 - $38,688

As of January 1, 2025, the new salary range will be $31,200 - $44,621.

No experience necessary! Murdoch provides all the training needed to be a successful HCT I.

Sign-on Bonus: A sign-on bonus of $2,000 for the successful applicant(s) of this posting.

Health Care Technician I Responsibilities:

• Support individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) who may have complex behavioral challenges and/or medical conditions.
• Take individuals on outings, teach recreational skills, and assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).
• Opportunities for advancement include HCT II, Healthcare Shift Supervisor, Preceptor, Staff Development Specialist, and Community Employment Specialist.
• After one year of service, eligible for Extended Academic Leave (EAL) for nursing programs.
• Flexible shifts with two leave days per week.

Work Schedule Shift Premiums:

• 1st Shift: 6:30am–3:00pm - 5% Weekend Only
• 2nd Shift: 2:30pm–11:00pm - 20% Weekday & 25% Weekend
• 3rd Shift: 10:45pm-6:45am - 10% Weekday & 15% Weekend

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Willingness to learn and apply behavior support techniques.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Effective communication skills with individuals and coworkers.
• Ability to anticipate hazards and perform duties safely.
• Ability to document observations and recommendations effectively.

Training includes First Aid, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI), CPR, and specialized training for working with individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

High school diploma or GED; some work experience preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
