Job summary

DC Army National Guard seeks a Health Care Specialist to be the first line of defense against injury and illness for civilians after disasters and for Soldiers who serve our Nation. You will administer emergency care and ongoing treatment, and support medical readiness, supplies, and equipment.

Training includes 10 weeks of Basic Training and 16 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT); you will learn patient care and emergency techniques, earn EMT certification, and train for a civilian

Qualifications

• Military enlistment in the Army National Guard
• Must be at least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma or a GED certificate
• Must be between the ages of 17 and 35
• Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards
• Must meet citizenship requirements (see NATIONALGUARD.com for details)

Responsibilities

• Administer emergency medical treatment to battlefield casualties
• Assist with outpatient and inpatient care and treatment
• Instruct Soldiers on Combat Lifesaver/First Responder training course
• Manage Soldiers’ medical readiness, medical supplies, and equipment
