Job summary

Virginia League for Planned Parenthood is hiring a Health Care Assistant for the Hamilton Clinic. The role supports health center activities, triage patients, educate, and assist licensed staff with exams and clinic operations.

Minimum two years in medical settings; CMA preferred. Entry-level base pay starts at $19.96/hr; bilingual pay available after proficiency test. Benefits include health, vision, dental, 401k matching, life insurance, holidays, PTO, and EAP.

Qualifications

• Two years experience in the medical field, in a medical office and with patient care/education.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• CMA preferred but equivalent certifications such as CNA, Phlebotomist, Patient Care Technician will be considered as comparable education.

Responsibilities

• Prepare rooms, supplies and equipment prior to each clinic session and between patients; monitor inventory and report supply needs.
• Prepare patients for evaluation or treatment, including history, vital signs, and waived point of care lab tests per provider orders.
• Assist providers with exams and procedures; provide support to patients in course of their care.
• Provide patients with information, education and resources related to general health, family planning, STI testing, pregnancy options and abortion services; obtain informed consent.
• Perform and document Rh factor testing and sterilize instruments per protocols.
• Monitor patient flow to minimize wait time and maximize provider time.
• Document medical information in patient records and clinic logs; manage records.
• Submit new and refill orders to pharmacy.
• Process lab results, reminders and callbacks as directed.
