Job summary

Tucson Unified School District is seeking a Health Assistant at Hudlow Elementary School to provide health and clerical support to the school nurse, ensuring a safe and efficient health office and a healthy learning environment for students and staff.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, CPR/First Aid/AED certification, English communication skills, and basic dosage and vital signs knowledge. Fingerprint clearance, immunization proof, and orientation are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
• Current CPR, First Aid and AED Certification from an in-person provider.
• Verbal & written communication skills in English.
• Competency in pre-algebraic skills for dosage calculations and vital signs conversions.
• Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Proof of immunity to measles and rubella, or MMR immunization.
• Bloodborne Pathogen training offered by TUSD Risk Management Department.
• Must release Social Security Number to be eligible for AHCCS-Provider ID Number.
• Health Services orientation/training.
• One year of experience in a health care setting or school health preferred.

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Current CPR, First Aid and AED Certification from an in-person provider
• Verbal & written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions
• Competency in pre-algebraic skills for dosage calculations and vital signs conversions

Requirements Prior To Start Date

• Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (apply at AZDPS FCC Form Triage)
• Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization
• Bloodborne Pathogen training offered by TUSD Risk Management Department
• Must release Social Security Number to be eligible for [AZ Health Care Cost Containment System] AHCCS-Provider ID Number
• Health Services orientation/training

Preferred Requirements

• One (1) year of experience in a health care setting or school health environment

COMMENTS

Effective: 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR

Location: Hudlow Elementary School-Broadway and Kolb Area

Classification: White Collar

FTE: .75 – 6 hours per day

Work Calendar: 9.5 month

Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits.

Internal candidates will transfer at a rate commensurate with their bargaining unit language.
