Job description

Your Role : As a Benefits Consultant - Remote, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing health and welfare, and wellness programs, including health insurance, life and disability, HSA, FSA, and health support initiatives.

You will assist and lead the development and design of benefit plans, programs, and procedures, and oversee their implementation. You will make recommendations to offer cost-effective and competitive employee benefits. You will respond to complex inquiries from employees and dependents regarding eligibility, claims, appeals, and benefit plan provisions, ensuring compliance with ERISA regulations.

You will develop and implement new regulatory policies and procedures, provide guidance and training to team members, and collaborate with legal counsel, payroll, vendors, and auditors to resolve issues. You will perform accurate and timely plan filings, amendments, and notifications in accordance with applicable laws. Additionally, you will develop company-wide and custom benefits and wellness communications and activities, including new hire training and program implementation.

Required Experience, Education, and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 8+ years’ experience in the health and welfare benefits field
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to present and consult with employees at all levels
  • Ability to present program recommendations to management
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to develop reports from complex data
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Thorough knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to employee benefits
  • Broad knowledge of health and welfare benefit principles and practices
  • Up-to-date knowledge of trends in the benefits field

Desired Qualities:

  • Professional designations (e.g., CEBS, CBP or equivalent)
  • Active participation in fostering company culture (e.g., resource groups, volunteering)
  • Willingness to travel for role requirements
  • Dedication to supporting business needs and team collaboration
