Description

The Health and Safety Specialist will be responsible for implementing Health and Safety (H&S) programs at Citizens to promote a safety culture and colleague well-being. The primary goal is to ensure a safe and healthy work environment in branches and offices for colleagues, customers, and vendors.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the planning and execution of H&S work orders related to indoor air quality, asbestos, mold, flood response, ergonomics, and industrial hygiene needs.
  • Being on-call to provide safety guidance to facilities colleagues responding to emergencies in branches and offices.
  • Conducting visits to investigate H&S issues in branches and offices.
  • Analyzing safety-related data (workers' compensation, liability, fleet vehicle losses) using MS Excel, including formulas like VLOOKUP, COUNTIF, and text functions, as well as advanced filters and pivot tables.
  • Supporting accident investigations to identify trends and propose preventive measures.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Updating Citizens' H&S procedures annually.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of H&S programs.
  • Developing and delivering H&S training, both in-person and online.
  • Organizing H&S events to foster a culture of well-being.
  • Encouraging colleagues to engage with health and safety topics.

This role requires regular travel across the bank’s footprint. The selected candidate must work in the field, at regional offices, or perform property visits at least four days a week, unless traveling.

Qualifications

Experience and Skills:

  • Internship or more than 1-year experience in Health, Safety, and Environment (preferred).
  • Intermediate or advanced MS Excel skills (preferred).
  • Ability to handle competing priorities.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure with accuracy.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with colleagues, facilities personnel, and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Word and PowerPoint.

Educational, Certifications, and Professional Credentials:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Preferred: OSHA 10-hour certification.
  • Preferred: GSP, ASP, or CSP certifications.

Hours & Work Schedule

Hours per week: 40

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM.

Note: Safety emergencies may occur during or outside regular hours. Candidates should be prepared to respond promptly to ensure safety and security.
