Job summary

Mercer is seeking a talented student to join our Health Actuarial and Financial Group (AFG) at Marsh in Chicago, IL or Houston, TX. This hybrid role requires at least three days in the office and offers hands-on experience with health care data analysis, cost projections and client materials.

You will work with supportive colleagues, develop basic actuarial skills, and pursue a Society of Actuaries designation while enrolled in a relevant bachelor’s degree.

Qualifications

• Progress towards a bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, math, statistics, economics, engineering or other related fields.
• Status as a currently enrolled student; expected graduation Fall 2027 or Spring 2028.
• Record of strong academic achievement (GPA 3.0/4.0 or higher).
• Commitment to pursuing an SOA designation.
• Legal work authorization in the U.S. on a permanent basis without sponsorship needs.

Responsibilities

• Perform responsibilities comparable to full-time analysts with support from experienced colleagues.
• Analyze health care data using spreadsheet and database tools.
• Help develop client communications, proposals, reports and presentations.
• Run basic cost projections using client cost and enrollment data with Marsh’s valuation model.
• Price medical and prescription drug plan designs using Marsh’s tools.
• Assist in developing customized pricing through scenario modeling.
• Develop basic underwriting and actuarial skills and knowledge of health plans.
