Job summary

San Diego Hat Company, a long-established international wholesaler, is seeking a Headwear Designer to join our creative team in California. You will lead headwear design for women, men and kids, driving concepts from initial ideas through development and pre-production approval.

As part of a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, you will collaborate with Sales Managers and the Design Director to translate concepts into technical drawings, line sheets, and robust tech packs while managing

Qualifications

• Degree in Fashion Industry Field
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
• 5+ years' experience in accessories or product design, ideally in fashion.
• Ability to travel domestically as needed
• Hands on, start to finish design, development and production experience.
• Understanding of key retail metrics and key merchandising requirements.
• Effectively able to present product lines both internally and externally in a professional and brand appropriate manner.
• Ability to independently, strong attention to detail and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Research, Design and Develop multi-seasonal, multi-product lines for key account customers based on customer requests.
• Ensure timely completion of product lines in accordance with customer development calendar each season.
• Collaborate with Sales Managers and Design Director on conceptualizing, designing and executing special programs.
• Translate headwear design concepts through technical drawings, sketches and line sheets.
• Create tech packs with detailed specifications that include measurements/construction details, target costs, shipping/testing requirements and trim/fabric information.
• Daily communication with factories as their primary contact on development and to ensure products execute correctly, hit targeted price and margin goals.
• Manage and prep samples for customers and sales meetings.
• Regular store visits to key accounts and competition to assure knowledge of the market.
• Travel as needed for sales meetings with Key Account Managers.

San Diego Hat Company is searching for a Headwear Designer to join our creative team. The qualified candidate will work with the team to execute headwear for women, men and kids. The Designer will participate in the development process from initial concepts to development inception through Pre-Production approval.
