Job description

Michael Angelo's Winery opened in the summer of 2018 as an iconic, premier dining destination for the community to create memorable experiences that celebrate life's special moments and connect us with the people we love through elevating hospitality and cultivating excellence.

All of our wines are produced and bottled on-site at our state-of-the-art facility, with a commitment to crafting the highest quality wines possible. By partnering with vineyards across the country, our Richfield, Ohio winery showcases the finest grapes from each region.

Our core values continually improve under our three key cornerstones:

  • People: To offer the best service, we must attract and keep the best talent. We keep our team inspired by offering career path and professional development opportunities, robust benefits package, 401K plan and annual bonus structure.
  • Product: Our seasonal menus pull from a wide range of inspiration but are always based on using the best ingredients and excellent technique. Our food and wine menus reflect that we are Northeast Ohio's quintessential dining destination.
  • Environment: Every aspect of the environment is well maintained and thoughtfully chosen to make our guests' time with us unforgettable.

The Head Winemaker will oversee all aspects of the winemaking process, including vineyard management, grape sourcing, fermentation, blending, harvesting, aging, and bottling.

Essential Duties

  • Vineyard Management:Monitoring grape ripeness and health and deciding when to harvest based on sugar and acidity levels.
  • Production & Cellar Work:Managing the crushing, pressing, fermentation, and aging processes (e.g., in barrels or stainless-steel tanks), ordering production materials and maintaining production schedules
  • Science & Quality Control:Analyzing chemical components (pH, acidity, sulfur levels) to prevent spoilage and ensure consistency.
  • Blending & Artistry:Tasting regularly to make decisions on, for example, oak influence, maturation, and final blending.
  • Logistics & Maintenance:Coordinating harvest logistics, ensuring sanitary conditions, and maintaining equipment
  • Administrative: Help maintain records as required for the purpose of meeting government (i.e., TTB) and corporate requirements. Manage accurate inventory, forecasting and partnering on brand development to support the winery’s vision and growth

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Enology, Viticulture, Food Science, or related field preferred
  • Prior experience as a winemaker or in a similar role is highly desirable
  • Comprehensive knowledge of winemaking processes, including fermentation, blending, and aging
  • Experience in vineyard management, quality control, compliance, and wine production logistics

  • Skill in inventory management, production scheduling, and operational efficiency
  • Balancing the artistic vision of the wine with meticulous, science-driven technical accuracy to ensure product quality and consistency
