Russell County Public Schools seeks a head coach at Castlewood High School to lead and supervise a comprehensive athletics program. The role emphasizes teaching sport fundamentals, strategy, physical conditioning, and responsible citizenship, with ongoing professional growth through clinics and collaboration with staff.

Qualifications

• Has the ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
• Has previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport. (Major sports)
• The head coach must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field.
• The head coach must serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through his/her instructions and actions.

Responsibilities

• Reports to the athletic director for overall objectives and final evaluation.
• Supervises staff of high school and middle school coaches in conjunction with the athletic director and principals.
• Instructs athletes in fundamental skills, strategy and physical training for team success; promotes character development and self-discipline.
• Participates in budgeting, equipment management and scheduling in coordination with the athletic director and school administration.
• Acts as mentor to athletes, monitors grades and conduct, and enforces training rules and sport regulations.
