Role Overview

The Head Teller supervises, coordinates, and schedules activities of employees engaged in Teller functions, ensuring that work is performed in accordance with established policies and procedures such as: accurately accounting for funds received and disbursed, correctly recording member transactions in the credit union's data processing system, and providing information to members with respect to their financial and other transactions at the credit union.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Member Engagement: Cultivate strong relationships with members to understand their financial needs and identify changes in the members life events and banking needs. Promote credit union products and services in a professional and knowledgeable manner, empowering members to make informed decisions.
Member Experience: Ensure an exceptional member experience by delivering personalized and attentive service. Address member inquiries and concerns promptly, fostering a positive relationship.
Membership Growth: Proactively identify and pursue opportunities to expand our membership base. Develop and implement strategies to attract new members.
Deposit Growth: Drive deposit growth through effective relationship building with existing and potential member. Provide personalized financial guidance to encourage members to maximize their deposits.
Operational Expense Reduction: Exercise due diligence to prevent fraud and minimize credit unions losses. Implement proactive measures to identify and address potential risks ensuring operational efficiency and financial stability. Includes but not limited to performing teller drawer, Cash recycler and vault balancing and auditing.
Cross-Functional: Demonstrate flexibility by efficiently balancing responsibilities between teller line and platform services based on member demand.
Member Outreach: Proactively reach out to members to enhance relationships and address their financial needs.
Branch Support: Collaborate with branch operations to assist with daily tasks including branch opening and closing procedures and resolving teller outages. Cross training will be required to perform Relationship Advisor roles as needed to meet the needs of our membership.
Transaction processing: Handle personal and business accounts transactions, such as deposits, transfers, withdrawals, credit card cash advance, loan payments and more. Resolve member problems independently seeking to find ways to a “yes” whenever possible and escalating more complex concerns.
Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve shared goals and enhance overall member experience. Develop work schedules to provide an adequate level of service to members.
Teammate development: Coaches, mentors, and leads RA’s by example with clear communication skills, transaction handling and problem resolution processes. Assists the management team in performance management monthly coaching journals, mid-year, annual reviews, and new hire selection processes.
Self-Development: Build and maintain knowledge of Addition Financial products and services and actively engage to stay informed about industry trends and evolving financial products.
Operational Efficiency: Conduct regular audits and reviews to identify areas for improvement. Monitor teller transactions for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to security procedures to ensure operational efficiency.
And other department wide projects and tasks as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.

Experience:

Minimum of 1+ years of experience in a sale or member service role, specifically cash handling experience.
A service-oriented, people-first mindset and commitment to exceeding expectations.
Genuine willingness and eagerness to learn, improve and teach others.
Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
Outgoing personality with a strong desire to assist members.
Proficiency in accurately processing transactions and requests.
Strong oral and written communication skills, ability to speak and write clearly and effectively, must be able to communicate with courtesy, tact, and diplomacy especially with those who have different perspectives, experiences, and backgrounds.
Must truly enjoy directly working and building relationships with people across a wide variety of dispositions and personalities. The ability to positively engage quickly and maintain that engagement throughout the entire transaction process is critical.
Genuine willingness and eagerness to learn, improve and teach others.

Any applicable system or program knowledge:

Proficiency in credit union systems including windows and Microsoft Office Software: experience with those core banking applications (Symitar/Epysis, Synapsys, Meridian Link, OpenClose, etc.).
