You will work with other dedicated professionals who share your passion for helping individuals in need. The Head Teacher will provide supervision and support to on‑site Special Education Teachers working in both our Mapleton School and our Devereux Day Academy. This position is as 52‑week teaching opportunity.

Schedule

Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm

*Please note that you will work 4 days in Malvern and 1 day in Norristown*

Every day as a Head Teacher you will:
  • Provide support and supervision to educational staff.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the administration of the school program.
  • Own supervision of IEPs and IEP process & complete initial transition of IEP for new students within 30 days
  • Co‑teach/push into classrooms to assist teacher adoption of new skills.
  • Serve as a building‑level leader in core and supplementary curricular resources.
You will be offered:
  • Salary:$64,773 - $73,841.22 (based on years of experience)

The Mapleton School located in Malvern, PA offers education curriculum to children functioning at all grade levels. A multi‑sensory educational strategy is used at all schools, employing traditional instruction, hands‑on and independent learning, as well as technology, to individualize a student’s progress in all academic areas, particularly math and reading. The transition from school to career, and all of the necessary interrelated skills, are a main focus of the school program. Devereux’s approved private schools offer high quality, innovative special education programs that work in tandem with families and school districts to ensure that students can return to their local schools and communities with the tools they will need to succeed. Children and young adults may come to Devereux as a day student, or as a part of residential treatment. Each student has an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP), which outlines goals for skill development and the best strategies by which the student can reach his/her goals.

Devereux Day Academy

Devereux Day Academy is a private academic school program located in Norristown, PA. Devereux Day Academy is licensed to serve students in grades K-8 who have been identified with the following primary disabilities: Intellectual Disability, Autism, Emotional Disturbance, Specific Learning Disability, and Speech or Language Impairment. The core curriculum has been aligned with the Pennsylvania Core Standards, as well as the curricula of our partner school districts. This alignment will facilitate smooth transitions to and from the program for your students. The goal of the curriculum is to provide students with learning experiences that foster increased engagement and success through differentiated instruction, evidence‑based instructional strategies, and rigorous learning expectations.

Qualifications

EDUCATIO:N: B.S. degree in Special Education & current Instructional I or Instructional II PA special education certification .PA Educational Supervisory Certificate preferred.

EXPERIENCE: 3years of teaching experience.
