Job summary

The Mapleton School in Malvern, PA within Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health is seeking an Instructional Support Specialist to assist teachers in meeting the academic, social, and behavioral needs of students with special needs. You will provide individual tutoring and classroom support under building leadership direction.

The role runs Monday–Friday, 8am–4pm, year‑round. A High School Diploma is required; an Associate Degree or two years of college is preferred.

Being a Instructional Support Specialist at Devereux has its Advantages

You will work with other dedicated professionals who share your passion for helping individuals in need.This position will support teacher's direction by providing assistance with academic, social, and behavioral needs of assigned clients. You will assist in the implementation of a basic educational programming and performing duties as directed by the building administrator or classroom teacher inclusive of individual tutoring or one-on-one support for a student with special needs.


Every day as an Instructional Support Specialist you will:


  • Ensuring the health and safety of youth in the school

  • Provide assistance with academic, social and behavioral needs.

  • Support the teacher and administration's direction while supporting youth and reporting progress daily.

  • Support and reinforce PBIS goals and objectives

The Mapleton School located in Malvern, PA offers education curriculum to children functioning at all grade levels. A multi-sensory educational strategy is used at all schools, employing traditional instruction, hands-on and independent learning, as well as technology, to individualize a student’s progress in all academic areas, particularly math and reading. The transition from school to career, and all of the necessary interrelated skills, are a main focus of the school program. Devereux’s approved private schools offer high quality, innovative special education programs that work in tandem with families and school districts to ensure that students can return to their local schools and communities with the tools they will need to succeed. Children and young adults may come to Devereux as a day student, or as a part of residential treatment. Each student has an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP), which outlines goals for skill development and the best strategies by which the student can reach his/her goals.


Qualifications

EDUCATION: High School Diploma required. Associates Degree or completion of two years of post-secondary education from an accredited college or university preferred.


EXPERIENCE: Previous experience working in a special education or behavioral healthcare setting with students with severe/complex behavioral/emotional issues preferred.
