Job summary

Elk Grove Park District is seeking a dedicated swim team coach to lead youth training under the supervision of the Aquatics Coordinator. You will ensure safety and deliver instruction to participants 5 years and older, while guiding assistant coaches and coordinating meet lineups.

Responsibilities include developing daily practices, teaching stroke techniques, and maintaining open communication with parents and staff.

Pay Rate: Starting at $17.00 per hour
Hours: Practice Mon - Friday 3:45pm - 8:15pm and Sat 11am - 5pm

Swim Meets 3 - 4 days a week and then Swim Meets, (4 per season).

Additional Office Hours.

JOB SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of the Aquatics Coordinator, is responsible for the safety, instruction and training of children participating in the Elk Grove Swim Team.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Develop and conduct daily practices.
• Instruct participants ages 5 and older.
• Correct various stroke techniques of individual participants.
• Assist in facilitation of communication between parents, Assistant Coaches and the Aquatics Coordinator
• Promote the growth and development of the Elk Grove Swim Team.
• Set training regimen for the Assistant Coaches and oversee implementation.
• Provide instruction of swimming skills needed for team participation.
• Train and supervise all assistant swim coaches.
• Provide Aquatics Coordinator with a monthly coach’s schedule.
• Schedule and prepare for swim meets, including line-ups.
• Swipe in and out daily and complete timesheets for meets.
• Maintain a commitment to the operation of a safe and effective aquatics environment.
• Operate any equipment necessary in accomplishing required tasks in a safe manner.
• Perform the job safely and in compliance with the district policies, procedures, work and safety rules.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be 16 years of age or older.
• Previous swimming and coaching experiences.
• Knowledge of all competitive swimming strokes.
• Flexibility, communication skills and patience.
• Ability to work cooperatively in teams and with others.
• Good knowledge of pertinent safety precautions.
• Ability to maintain positive and effective working relationships with other employees.
• Complete Safety Training for Swim Coaches.
• American Swim Coach Association member with Level 2 Certification or ability to obtain within first six months of employment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Past swim team experience
• High School Diploma or GED
• Customer service experience
• Ability to resolve conflict and make decisions quickly and easily
