The YMCA of Greater Hartford is seeking a Head Swim Coach to lead the Swim Team under the Aquatic Director, advancing the program to the next level while upholding the YMCA’s Caring, Honest, Respectful, and Responsible values.

You will direct activities, recruit and train staff, schedule practices and meets, ensure certifications are current, manage the budget, and collaborate with community partners to grow the program and support swimmers and parents.

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience as a competitive swimmer; collegiate competitive swimming experience preferred.
• 2+ years swim coaching experience preferred.
• USA Swimming and YMCA coaching credentials preferred/can obtain.
• Must demonstrate proficiency in swim skills and communicate with swimmers/parents.
• Valid USA YMCA coaching certification required.
• Weekend swim meet availability.
• CPR/First Aid/AED certifications or willingness to obtain.

Responsabilités

• Directs and supervises program activities to meet community needs and YMCA objectives.
• Establishes new program activities and expands within the community.
• Develops relationships with community organizations.
• Model and promote YMCA core values (Caring, Honest, Respect, Responsibility).
• Attend board meetings and align with coach philosophy.
• Recruit, hire, train, and schedule coaches and volunteers; evaluate performance.
• Develop training programs, practice and meet schedules for all teams.
• Oversee staff development and provide educational opportunities.
• Monitor pool operations to comply with health and safety regulations.
