Job summary

Wittenberg University is seeking a Head Strength & Conditioning Coach to lead performance enhancement and injury-prevention programs for 25 varsity teams. The role requires collaboration with athletic trainers, team physicians, and consultants to develop top student-athletes and create a supportive athlete welfare environment.

The position is full-time and exempt, reporting to the VP and Director of Athletics & Recreation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 3–5 years of relevant experience.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • CSCS certification required.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license; must meet insurance requirements and obtain Ohio license within 30 days if out of state.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a schedule to ensure sessions for all 25 varsity programs are covered.
  • Provide fair and equal supervision to all teams using the Strength Center.
  • Implement Strength & Conditioning programs for all 25 varsity programs.
  • Manage the student employment staff for Strength Center and Fitness Centers.
  • Perform regular safety inspections of the Strength Center and equipment.
  • Ensure the Center is cleaned and organized after sessions.
  • Monitor and regulate the Strength Center environment for patrons.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to users of the facilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Description:

Wittenberg Universityis recruiting for a HeadStrength & Conditioning Coach.The Head Coach will develop and implement performance enhancement, conditioning, speed and agility, and strength training with an emphasis in injury prevention for all varsity athletic teams.We are seeking applicants with a demonstratedcommitment to the mission and values of Wittenberg University and to Division III athletics. The Head Coach will work collaboratively with Athletic trainers, team physicians, andconsultants with the goal of building top performing student-athletes and creating an inviting environment from a student-athlete welfare perspective.This is a full-time, exempt-level position, reporting to the Vice President and Director of Athletics & Recreation.

Essential functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop a schedule to ensure that the sessions for all 25 sport programs are covered and monitored by a strength & conditioning staff member.
  • Providefair and equal supervision to all team(s) or individuals utilizing the Strength Center.
  • Implement Strength & Conditioning programs for all 25 varsity athletic programs.
  • Manage the student employment staff for both the Strength Center and Fitness Centers in the Health, Wellness and Athletics complex.
  • Performregular safety inspections of the Strength Center and equipment to reduce hazards and to provide maximum safety to its patrons.
  • Ensure that the Strength Center is properly cleaned and organized at the conclusion of any session in which the Strength & Fitness Centers are opened to either teams or the general campus community.
  • Monitor and regulate the Strength Center environment for the enjoyment of all patrons using the facility.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to those using both the Strength & Fitness Centers.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned such as special projects, programs, developmental activities, etc.
Requirements:

Candidates must have:

  • A bachelor's degree and3 to 5 years of relevant experience. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of three to five years of experience as a strength trainer and/or CSCS.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, and be able to effectively and appropriately interact with student-athletes, parents, alumni, faculty, peers, community members, and administrators.
  • Experience as a supervisor is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products is required.
  • A valid driver's license is required; must meet required insurance qualifications found in Wittenberg Motor Pool policies and procedures. If license is from out of state, successful candidate will need to obtain a valid Ohio driver's license within 30 days of hire date.

Night and weekend work is required. Some travel is required.
