Job summary

Child Inc in Austin, TX is seeking a Teacher Aide to join the Head Start classroom for the 10-month period August–June. You’ll assist the lead teacher in planning engaging activities for 3–5 year-olds, help maintain a safe, stimulating environment, and support planning, records, and daily supervision.

Ideal candidates hold a CDA or an AA in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, with 3 months of relevant experience preferred.

Qualifications

• CDA credential required.
• Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development acceptable.
• Three months experience with 3–5 year olds preferred.
• Ability to work at any center/location.
• CPR and First Aid certification within 30 days of employment.
• Valid driver’s license and insured vehicle.
• Must pass physical and TB test and background checks/E-Verify.

Position Purpose

The Teacher Aide is a member of the classroom team and helps plan and initiate meaningful learning activities for Head Start children ages 3-5 years. The Teacher Aide assists the teacher in conducting classroom activities, maintaining classroom environment, and supervising children and may also assist in planning and record keeping and other classroom related duties. (This is a 10-month position August - June)

Minimum Qualifications

• Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential required
• Associate in Early Childhood Education or Child Development also acceptable
• Three (3) months of experience working with children 3 5 years preferred
• Must have the ability to work at any center regardless of location
• Must be certified in Pediatric CPR and First Aid within 30 days of employment
• Must possess valid driver's license and insured automobile
• Must obtain a physical and TB skin test and must pass all criminal history background checks and E-Verify
