Job summary

Grand Street Settlement in Bronx, NY seeks a part-time Head Start Teacher Aide for the Mott Haven Center. The role supports teachers, supervises children, and assists with activities to ensure safety and learning in a community-based early childhood program.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; some college credits preferred.
• Experience with children ages 0-5 and families is required.
• Ability to maintain written records and manage time effectively.
• Ability to work with diverse families and interpret safety policies.
• Basic computer literacy including email and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children indoors and outdoors with positive guidance.
• Assist in daily lesson planning and individualization for children.
• Support readiness for kindergarten and ongoing learning.
• Foster positive partnerships with families and participate in conferences/home visits.
• Maintain documentation and assist with health checks and safety inspections.
• Substitute for teachers as needed and assist with supplies.
