Job summary

Grand Street Settlement is seeking a Head Start Teacher Aide for Crotona Park Child and Family Center in the Bronx. You will support teachers, supervise children aged 0-5, and help implement classroom activities while maintaining a safe, nurturing environment.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, at least one year of relevant experience, and ability to work with diverse families. Schedule is Mon-Fri, 4 hours daily.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; college credits preferred.
• At least one year experience with children 0-5 and families.
• Ability to work with children with diverse developmental needs.
• Ability to maintain written records and manage time.
• Ability to interpret safety policies and procedures.
• Develop positive relationships with participating families.
• Basic computer literacy (email, MS Office).

Responsibilities

• Supervise indoor and outdoor activities with positive guidance.
• Assist with daily lesson plans and individualization.
• Support readiness skills for kindergarten and beyond.
• Foster partnerships with families and encourage participation.
• Maintain documentation and communicate with staff and families.
