Job summary

USD Head Start in Tea, SD is seeking a caring Teacher Aide to support a Head Start classroom serving children aged 3-5. You will work with the Head Start Teacher to help each child reach developmental milestones.

The role is full-time (40 hours/week) with a 9.5-month schedule (Aug 16–May 31) and benefits eligibility through the State of South Dakota. A CDA is preferred, with willingness to obtain within two years, and experience with young children is valued.

USD Head Start is seeking a caring, energetic Teacher Aide to join our Head Start classroom in the Tea School District.

In this role, you’ll support a positive, engaging learning environment for children ages 3–5 and work closely with the Head Start Teacher to help each child reach important developmental milestones.

What You’ll Do

• Supervise children in the classroom and on the playground
• Support daily learning activities and routines
• Assist the Head Start Teacher in implementing developmentally appropriate practices
• Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for all children
• Full‑time, 40 hours per week
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:45 a.m. – 4:15 p.m.
• 9.5‑month position (August 16 – May 31 annually)
• Benefits‑eligible role with the State of South Dakota

Qualifications

• Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential preferred, willing to get one within two years
• Experience working with young children required
• A passion for supporting early learning and child development
