Job summary

Innovative Network of Knowledge is seeking a dedicated individual to support Head Start and Early Head Start programs in Ruston, LA. You will assist with daily classroom activities, play a vital role in safety, and help deliver engaging educational experiences for preschool children.

The role requires strong communication with families and adherence to program regulations. Responsibilities include supervising activities, coordinating with staff and volunteers, and participating in trainings.

Qualifications

• Must be able to communicate with children and families with limited English.
• Working knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, and arithmetic.
• Computer literate and able to operate office equipment.
• Ability to work without extensive supervision.
• Maintain confidentiality and handle student information securely.
• Possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the education and daily program of a Head Start classroom.
• Assist with implementation and coordination of Head Start functions.
• Identify and report child abuse/neglect to supervisors.
• Provide educational experiences to develop language arts and self-worth.
• Ensure all children receive individual attention.
• Be in the classroom before children arrive each morning.
• Maintain safety in classroom, playground, restrooms, and equipment.
• Utilize volunteers effectively to support activities.
• Assist with child assessments and screenings.
• Assist on field trips and school functions.
• Assist with home-style meal service for children.
• Report illnesses or accidents to Center staff.
• Report extended absences and attend trainings.
• Maintain mandated training hours and CPR/First Aid certification.
