Job summary

Allegheny Lutheran Social Ministries Bedford Head Start seeks a substitute classroom teacher to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities for each child and family, coordinating with home visits and center-based work.

The position includes occasional/flexible scheduling at $140 per day, Monday–Friday, with competitive benefits and opportunities for professional growth within the Head Start program in Bedford County.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in early childhood education or related field.
• Six classes in child development or early childhood education.
• Experience working with young children.
• Valid PA Driver’s license; Act 31/34/151 and FBI clearances required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, develop and implement an individualized program for each child and family.
• Maintain accurate records of home visits and family contacts.
• Utilize Creative Curriculum and other program resources with family involvement.
• Establish a positive atmosphere that supports growth for the family unit.
• Encourage parents to participate in program activities and trainings.
