Job summary

Capital Area Head Start is seeking substitutes to join our mission of providing a comprehensive child development program that gives children a head start and strengthens families. Substitutes support classroom staff in delivering quality educational programming and ensuring child safety for ages 3-5.

Schedule is casual/per diem with hours between 7:30 AM and 4:30 PM, based on center needs in Dauphin and Cumberland counties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic computer skills, ability to use Microsoft Word, Outlook and learn web based systems.
• Ability to travel to home visits, training, and other locations.
• Successful completion of pre-employment process, including Criminal History, Child Abuse and FBI clearances.
• Preschool CDA or Associate’s degree in early childhood education (preferred).
• Experience working with young children (preferred).
• Bi/multi-lingual abilities (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Substitutes support classroom staff in delivering quality educational programming while ensuring the safety of children ages 3-5.
• Assist with implementation of daily lesson plans and activities.
