Job summary

Communifysb is seeking a Cook - Substitute, Head Start in Santa Maria, CA. This temporary, as-needed position pays $18.00–$19.00 per hour and serves approximately 80–120 meals daily to children, parents, and staff within the Children’s Services Program.

The role includes purchasing food items, maintaining a sanitary kitchen, and following CACFP guidelines. A High School Diploma or GED, two years of kitchen experience, and ServSafe certification are preferred, with bilingual ability favored.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Two years' experience as a kitchen helper.
• ServSafe certificate required.
• Bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve daily nutritious meals meeting CACFP guidelines.
• Complete daily documentation and monthly reports of meals served.
• Purchase food items at local grocery stores and manage inventory.
• Maintain a sanitary and clean kitchen and safe operation of equipment.
• Attend regular trainings and meetings as assigned.
• Engage with coworkers, parents, volunteers, and children in a friendly and professional manner.
• Ensure substitutions for children with allergies and dietary needs.
• Carry out related duties as required.
