Job summary

United Counseling Service (UCS) invites applications for a Head Start Teacher. Requires a Bachelor’s or higher in Early Childhood Education and Vermont licensure; experience with preschool is preferred.

Position focuses on curriculum development, family engagement, and meeting Head Start standards under the Education Manager. The role emphasizes collaboration with program and content area staff, ongoing family conferences, and maintaining accurate records.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education with Vermont licensure in Early Childhood Education.
• Experience teaching pre-school children preferred.
• Vermont AOE Teacher License preferred, or apply within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements appropriate curriculum in Head Start, using classroom data and Head Start standards.
• Communicates effectively with children, parents, staff, and consultants; conducts home visits and family conferences.
• Maintains complete attendance records, BFIS credential accounts, and program documentation.
• Encourages parental involvement and coordinates family events; ensures safety and a positive classroom environment.
