Job summary

Lutheran Services Florida, Inc. is seeking a Lead Teacher to lead Head Start/Early Head Start classrooms.

You will plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities for preschoolers and infants, ensuring alignment with Florida Pre-K standards and federal requirements. The role includes family engagement, progress documentation, and collaboration with staff to support safe, inclusive learning environments.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in ECE or related field with relevant coursework.
• Completion of required Florida childcare training and VPK mandates within 12 months.
• Two years of Head Start/early childhood teaching experience.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plans, develops and implements daily lesson plans meeting federal standards.
• Maintains learning environments with defined areas for exploration.
• Screens and assesses children and develops Individual Education Plans.
• Communicates with parents about progress and activities.
• Conducts health checks and ensures safety, hygiene and supervision.
• Documents progress and submits required reports.
• Plans activities for parent and community volunteers.
• Coordinates field trips and ensures safety in transportation.
