The Head Start Lead Teacher facilitates quality, individualized early childhood education by implementing developmentally appropriate practices in an inclusive environment.

Under the direct supervision of the Center Manager, works as a team with Education/Disabilities Specialists to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities that enhance children's growth, promote social competence, and ensure parental involvement.

• Must have the knowledge, skills, and experience needed to perform the functions responsibly.
• Must be familiar with the ethnic background and culture of families in the program and be able to communicate effectively, including with children and families with limited English proficiency.
• Must possess training, experience, and knowledge in child development theories, early childhood education, and family support.
• Must have excellent communication skills.
• Must be able to provide leadership and stability for program continuity.
• Must be able to move/lift children up to age five.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Head Start Lead Teacher

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must pass the drug test.
• Must pass the background check.
• Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable.

Education Required

Completion of an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field, specifically a minimum of an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education.

Physical Job Requirements

Occasional lifting or moving of light articles may be required.
