Job summary

Regina Coeli Child Development Center in Slidell, LA, seeks a dedicated Early Head Start teacher to provide a safe, supervised learning setting for infants and toddlers, support social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development, and encourage parent involvement.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED with CDA or a degree in ECE, strong communication, bilingual English/Spanish preferred, and computer skills; the position reports to the Center Director and follows Head Start standards.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching in an early childhood setting with infants and toddlers.
• Bilingual English/Spanish skills highly desirable.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient with basic computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Be familiar with and adhere to Head Start standards and local policies.
• Maintain an open, friendly, professional relationship with staff and families.
• Participate in program self-assessment and quality improvement initiatives.
• Monitor confidentiality of children records.
• Establish and maintain a safe and healthy classroom environment.
• Report safety hazards; detect illness and unusual behavior; report to appropriate staff.
• Mandated reporting of suspected child abuse/neglect.
• Develop and utilize curriculum plans reflecting mandated elements and family influence.
• Follow a consistent schedule with group experiences, transitions, and meals.
• Provide interactions that support development and learning.
