Job summary

Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) seeks a Health Specialist to promote and maintain the health of children enrolled in Head Start. You will work closely with the nurse and staff to ensure timely exams, immunizations, and health plans, while maintaining confidential records.

Responsibilities include data entry, health screenings, and coordinating care with families and external providers. The role requires a valid FL driver’s license and First Aid/CPR certification within six months.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in children's health care is required.
• Bilingual preferred: English/Spanish or other languages common in the area.

Responsibilities

• Obtain complete medical and developmental histories for new enrollments.
• Input health information into computer systems and maintain health records.
• Track and follow up on physical exams, immunizations, and dental exams.
• Collaborate with the nurse to assess medical needs and arrange treatment or referrals.
• Coordinate health care trainings for staff, parents and children.
• Conduct height/weight measurements and BMI charting; screen vision and hearing.
• Transport children to appointments as needed and maintain confidentiality.
