Job summary

Northern Arizona Council of Governments seeks an EHS / HS Family Support Specialist in Flagstaff to manage Head Start enrollment, assess family needs, and connect families with services.

The role requires collaborating with centers to ensure eligibility, delivering trainings, and guiding staff to strengthen family outcomes within the performance standards. On-site position in Flagstaff, AZ.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Head Start related field required; 3–5 years in a Head Start setting preferred.
• Alternative: Family Development Credential (FDC) or equivalent certification.
• Equivalent education, training, and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Collect enrollment documents to ensure full enrollment under Head Start standards.
• Explain eligibility of enrolled families and ERSEA policy according to Head Start Performance Standards.
• Conduct assessments to identify family needs and coordinate support services.
• Attend home visits to build strength-based relationships and support positive outcomes.
• Mentor staff to strengthen family engagement and outcomes.
• Plan and deliver orientation and family engagement activities; use data to set goals and measure outcomes.
• Maintain a comprehensive community resource list to connect families with needed services.
• Interpret program policies and help drive system changes for the component administrator.
