Delaware Opportunities, Inc. is seeking a full-time Family Services Worker for our Head Start program in Deposit, NY.

The role acts as a liaison between the Head Start Center and participating families to support family engagement, access to services, and self-sufficiency in a strengths-based, non-judgmental manner. Responsibilities include recruiting eligible children, supporting parent volunteers, maintaining records, assisting with health and nutrition education, and promoting family

Qualifications

• SSCBT or Family Development Credential or Associate’s degree in psychology, sociology, or human services.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience working with low-income families.

Responsibilities

• Conduct ongoing recruitment of eligible children and maintain waiting lists.
• Recruit and support parent and community volunteers.
• Assist families in accessing community resources to improve quality of life.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records for Family and Community Engagement and Health components.
• Support health, mental health, dental, and nutritional education, activities, and appointments.
• Promote family and community engagement through workshops and program participation.
• Support parents in their role as primary educators and program policy contributors.
• Plan and provide experiences that strengthen the parental role in child development.
• Attend and participate in in-service, pre-service, staff meetings, and trainings.
• Participate in program self-assessment activities.
• Work with families in a non-judgmental, strengths-based manner.
• Fulfill mandated reporter responsibilities.
• Perform related duties as assigned
