Job summary

Sieda Community Action currently seeks a full-time Family Service Worker for Mahaska/Jefferson/Keokuk Head Start Centers. You will work with families to set goals, assist with health services requirements, and lead county recruitment efforts.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree, two years with families, and completing Family Development Specialist certification within 2 years. Travel and background checks are required; salary ranges $19.02–$22.35/hr with comprehensive training obligations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Social Work, or related field is required.
• Must complete Family Development Specialist certification within 2 years of employment.
• Minimum of two years experience with children and families; Head Start experience preferred.
• Must pass state and federal criminal record checks and maintain required trainings.

Responsibilities

• Perform two home visits with each enrolled family.
• Help parents develop involvement in Head Start activities.
• Maintain regular communication with center staff and community partners.
• Enter data into ChildPlus.net and Teaching Strategies GOLD with minimal training.
• Serve as substitute in Head Start classrooms and bus monitor when needed.
