Job summary

Next Door Milwaukee is seeking a Director of Family Engagement and Enrollment to lead the Head Start program operations, build relationships with families, ensure eligibility, recruitment, enrollment and attendance, and maintain compliance with Head Start standards.

Under the President’s supervision, you will coach the Family Engagement team, supervise staff, manage budgets, collaborate with program leaders, attend Board meetings, and support the agency’s strategic plan.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Education or related field.
• At least 5 years of supervisory experience.
• Knowledge of Head Start Standards or similar standards.
• Knowledge of early childhood development, assessment and evaluative methods and tools.
• Excellent written and verbal skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to motivate staff and facilitate staff development.
• Ability to manage in a complex organizational structure.
• Ability to manage in a high intensity environment.
• Strong time management and leadership skills.
• Ability to work with culturally diverse families and low‑income families.
• Valid driver’s license and liability insurance on first day of employment.

Responsibilities

• Lead Family Engagement and Enrollment teams to meet Head Start enrollment goals.
• Provide coaching and reflective supervision to staff.
• Ensure compliance with Head Start standards and licensing requirements.
• Collaborate with program leaders to support families and children.
• Attend Board meetings and complete program assessments.
• Manage department budgets and in‑kind goals.
