Responsibilities

• Uses knowledge of the principles of child growth and development to work with children in a Head Start program.
• Maintains a child-centered curriculum and learning environment that encourages positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self-motivation to promote development in all domains for children of all abilities.
• Plans and implements learning experiences that advance intellectual and physical development, including improving literacy and numeracy readiness.
• Addresses challenging behaviors by observing to determine causes, implementing preventive measures, teaching social/communication skills and partnering with families.
• Uses observations and anecdotal notes to document children's progress and individualize curriculum.
• Encourages family involvement and supports development of relationships between children and families.
• Establishes and maintains a safe and healthy learning environment.
• Supports social and emotional development of children.
• Communicates with internal and external stakeholders.
• Participates in meetings, events and training as required.

Education
