Job summary

Brazos Valley Community Action Prog seeks a dedicated Head Start classroom teacher to implement performance standards for 3- to 5-year-olds. You will create a safe, engaging learning environment, support English language development, and partner with families to promote development and school readiness.

The role requires strong communication, bilingual capability (English/Spanish a plus), and the ability to respond to crises while following Head Start guidelines.

Qualifications

• Associates or Bachelors in Early Childhood Education or related field; transcripts required.
• Annual training hours required and maintained.
• Strong written and verbal communication; bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
• Must have a valid license and CPR/First Aid certification within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in classroom management; supervise children at all times.
• Engage in early childhood activities aligned with Head Start standards.
• Communicate with parents and staff; support family engagement.
• Coordinate with Family Advocates and coordinators as needed.
• Ensure safety and proper transitions between activities.
• Prepare materials and adapt curriculum to individual goals.
