Job summary

Southeast Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commission is seeking an Assistant to support Center educational and other Head Start services. You will help prepare lesson plans, supervise children, conduct health checks, and communicate with parents to maintain a safe, nurturing learning environment.

The role also includes assisting with classroom inventory, data entry, home visits, and collaboration with teachers to monitor student progress; a high school diploma or GED and a valid

Qualifications

• Possess a high school diploma or GED; prefer an Associate degree in early childhood education or child development.
• Possess a CDA certificate or be able to acquire this certificate within two years of employment.
• Possess a current and valid driver's license and must be able to drive.
• Ability to perform CPR and First Aid procedures when required.
• Ability to pass tuberculosis testing/screening.
• Ability to work non-standard hours or overtime when necessary.
• Ability to pass all DHR background checks, including CA/N, ABI/FBI checks, and TB test.

Responsibilities

• Assist Teachers in preparing lesson plans, file folders, and daily meal counts.
• Supervise students to ensure safety and healthy learning environment.
• Perform daily student health checks and document health status.
• Interact with and communicate with students, parents, and staff.
• Prepare meals for students and manage classroom inventory.
• Observe and evaluate students' social development and progress.
• Maintain student records and document student progress and challenges.
• Integrate Head Start components into classroom activities and plan.
• Conduct home visits with parents and schedule parent-teacher conferences.
• Enter student information into system databases and ensure accuracy.
