Head Start Early Learning Support Teacher

Position Overview: The EHS Support Teacher assists with the care of children aged birth to three years old. This role promotes the agency's mission to "Engage Communities and Coordinate Resources to Improve the Lives of People Experiencing Poverty" by creating a nurturing and educational environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform light housekeeping duties to ensure safety and cleanliness
  • Maintain classroom and playground equipment and supplies
  • Develop and implement study themes and lesson plans
  • Ensure reliable attendance
  • Maintain documentation in child-family files
  • Create a supportive learning environment that fosters social, emotional, and physical development
  • Balance active and quiet activities, group sizes, and child-initiated and teacher-directed tasks
  • Offer one-on-one learning opportunities
  • Organize well-defined learning centers with developmentally appropriate materials
  • Promote early language and literacy skills
  • Use positive guidance and set appropriate limits to encourage self-control
  • Participate in continuing education to stay current in child development knowledge
  • Maintain professional relationships with families, staff, and community partners

Competencies:

  • Proficiency in Outlook and general computer skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and cultures
  • Understanding and support of Head Start standards, regulations, and policies
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships

Additional Requirements: Valid Driver's License is preferred but not required. Applicants must pass a background check, drug test, and fingerprinting.

This position is classified as Entry level and is a Full-time role in Education and Training within the Food and Beverage Services industry.
