Job summary

West Texas Opportunities, Inc. seeks a dedicated early childhood professional to support center-based classrooms serving 0-3-year-olds within the Head Start program.

The role requires a high school diploma and credentialing in early childhood, with ability to obtain within a year, plus experience working with young children and families, and strong record-keeping and activity planning skills. Training in First Aid and CPR is anticipated.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma and an Early Childhood Certification or CDA or ability to complete within one year.
• Experience in an early childhood program or similar setting.
• Demonstrated ability to relate sensitively to children and families.
• Ability to plan and implement appropriate activities for children.
• Ability to maintain records.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and/or maintain CDA by meeting required training hours and other requirements.
• Daily on-going care of 4 children ages 0-3 in a center-based setting.
• Develop written weekly lesson plans.
• Complete student assessments four times per year.
• Use space, materials and routines to create an engaging learning environment.
• Provide activities to promote physical development and language skills.
• Promote health and nutrition through activities.
• Encourage independence and self-esteem in children.
• Foster respectful interactions among children and adults.
• Collaborate with staff in planning policies and activities.
• Arrange two home visits and two teacher/parent conferences per program year.
• Contribute to School Readiness Goals and Head Start progress.
