Job summary

Union County Community Action, Inc. in Hamlet, NC, seeks a dependable Custodian to maintain Head Start buildings and grounds and provide transportation support as assigned. This role is essential for keeping learning spaces safe, clean, and welcoming for children and families.

Starting rate is up to $15 per hour with a Monday–Friday schedule from 7:30am to 4:30pm (40 hours/week). CDL is required or obtainable within 90 days; a valid driver’s license is also needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Related custodial or maintenance experience preferred.
• CDL required or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screening and TB test, and must submit to random drug screenings.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain classrooms, offices, and common areas
• Assist with facility maintenance and supply organization
• Safely transport children to and from program locations
• Serve as a bus monitor when assigned
• Maintain safe and sanitary environments for children and staff
• Support program operations as needed
