Union County Community Action, Inc. in Wadesboro, NC is seeking an Assistant Teacher/Bus Driver for Head Start preschool to support classroom activities and student transportation. The role offers a stable Monday–Friday schedule, benefits, and opportunities for professional growth.

Starting rate is up to $18.50 per hour. The position requires a High School Diploma or GED, with CDA or an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Development preferred, plus CDL or ability to obtain within 90 days.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required for the Assistant Teacher/Bus Driver I role; CDA preferred or obtained within time frame.
• Assistant Teacher/Bus Driver II prefers an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Development or a related field; six months to one year of related experience preferred.
• EDU 119 is required.
• CDL is required or must be obtained within 90 days of employment.
• CPR and First Aid certification required or obtained.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with classroom activities and lesson plans.
• Support children’s social, emotional, and cognitive development.
• Maintain classroom documentation and records.
• Supervise children in classroom and outdoor settings.
• Assist with transportation by driving or monitoring buses.
• Build positive relationships with children and families.
