Job summary

VOALA’s Head Start/Early Head Start program in the San Fernando Valley seeks a Head Start Co-Teacher (Substitute) to provide a safe, engaging classroom environment for children ages 0–5, supporting social, emotional, and cognitive development during on-site sessions. Responsibilities include daily lesson planning, observing child development, collaborating with families, and ensuring health and safety.

Qualifications

• Must pass fingerprint clearance and background checks.
• Must have access to transportation and CA driver’s license.
• TB clearance and required immunizations on hire.
• Health screening is required at employment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and move quickly as needed.
• High school diploma or GED with ECE/CD units.

Responsibilities

• Provide a developmentally appropriate learning environment for 0–5 year olds.
• Plan daily activities and document progress with teachers.
• Observe and assess child development and set individualized goals.
• Support parents as the primary educators and engage families.
• Maintain health, safety and licensing compliance on-site.
• Fulfill other duties as assigned in program needs.
