Qualifications

• CDA or enrolled to complete within 2 years; or have a degree in any field or be enrolled in a program leading to such degree.
• Prior experience with children ages 0-5 years.
• Physical exam and background checks are required for this position.
• Travel required locally or long-distance up to 10% of the time for work-related meetings and functions.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to interact effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
• Demonstrated computer literacy skills, using MS Office applications and other basic data systems including internet navigation.
• Must be honest, dependable and able to meet deadlines.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Use knowledge of child growth and development to work with children and communicate with stakeholders.
• Maintain a child-centered curriculum and learning environment encouraging positive social interaction and active engagement.
• Address challenging behaviors by observing causes, teaching new skills, and partnering with families to support the child at home.
• Use observations and notes to document children’s progress and tailor curriculum.
• Perform tasks including communication and service coordination, record keeping, and ongoing monitoring/self-assessment.
• Plan and implement learning experiences to advance intellectual and physical development.
• Establish a safe, healthy learning environment and support social-emotional development.
• Encourage family involvement in Head Start and relationships between children and families.
• Attend assigned meetings, events and training; perform other duties as assigned.
