  • Physical exam and background checks required.
  • Travel locally or long-distance up to 10% of time.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities.

  • Honest, dependable, and able to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

FACILITY AND REPAIR (HEAD START)

Full Time Professional San Juan, PR, US

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: This position is responsible for supporting the maintenance of high quality Head Start classrooms and overall facilities. Responsibilities include maintaining compliance of facilities and other services with Head Start Performance Standards and other state and federal regulations, and providing custodial services to the program. Responsibilities also include custodial maintenance of all facilities to which s/he is assigned.

TASKS AND ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Ensure compliance with performance standards and licensing requirements, and provide for the health and safety of all infants, toddlers and preschool children in the program.

2. Identifies areas in need of maintenance and repair and responds to those needs promptly and effectively.

3. Performs basic maintenance and repair tasks and effectively utilizes resources to accomplish them.

4. Completes minor repairs at centers and main office upon request.

5. Ensures major repairs and maintenance are completed as requested.

6. Assists in remodeling, refurbishing and repairing of office spaces, classrooms, and storage units which may include minor carpentry, painting, sanding and refinishing of furniture, fixtures and equipment.

7. Perform minor plumbing and electrical repairs and maintenance.

8. Repair and maintenance of building, classroom, storage facilities, machinery and equipment agency wide:

a. Assists in moving office furniture, fixtures and equipment within and between sites to support staffing changes, relocations, remodels and program expansion.

b. Perform routine inspections of site interiors and exteriors for safety hazards.

c. Perform repairs, maintenance, moving, transporting, and installation of playground and facilities structures.

d. Ensure machinery and equipment is maintained and stored in a secure location.

9. Complete work requisitions in a timely manner as directed.

10. Performs any and all other duties (or functions) as assigned.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, AA/AS preferred.
  • Experience in general repair, carpentry, facilities maintenance, assembly, plumbing, electrical, painting, etc.
  • Physical exam and background checks are required for this position.
