Job summary

Boulder County is hiring five Head Start Classroom Substitutes to provide reliable, short-term instructional and caregiving support as regular staff are absent. The substitute collaborates with teaching teams to maintain a safe, nurturing classroom aligned with Head Start standards and daily routines.

Positions are hourly, non-benefited, non-exempt and may require working at multiple sites in Lafayette or Boulder, with shifts 7:45am–4:15pm, Monday–Friday.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Background check and fingerprinting for employment.
• Must be at least 18 years old and willing to obtain credential within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Support daily classroom routines and activities as outlined by the lead teacher (learning centers, outdoor play, meals, rest time, transitions).
• Maintain active supervision to ensure safety through proper positioning and scanning.
• Provide nurturing interactions to support social-emotional development and positive behavior.
