Job summary

Caaofokc is seeking a dedicated Head Start Classroom Teacher to manage day‑to‑day instructional activities and child development in a licensed facility. You will implement Head Start policies, conduct screenings, and collaborate with a Family Advocate to support families’ health and social needs.

The role requires an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field, computer literacy, and the ability to work with diverse cultures.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
• Must be computer literate.
• Possess no physical limitations to preclude performance of duties.
• Demonstrate ability to assume responsibility for an Early Childhood classroom and related duties.
• Must meet all applicable requirements established by state and funding sources to include finger printing.
• Have transportation available and a valid Oklahoma State driver’s license.
• Ability to work with diverse cultures.
• Willing to attend training and/or further schooling.
• OPDR member with a OPDL of 4 or higher.
• Annually maintain at least 2 college credits or 20 PD hours per PDL certification.
• When counted as a Master Teacher for center master teacher ratio: completes steps on OPDR to be counted as Master Teacher.
• Complete training in Early Learning Guidelines.
• Complete one full set of Pyramid Model modules: Birth to five, Preschool or Infant/Toddler when applicable.
• CPR certified annually or within 90 days of employment.
• Prior to caring for infants, personnel obtain formal professional development in safe sleep practices.

Responsibilities

• Operates a Head Start classroom day-to-day in alignment with Head Start policies and procedures.
• Models best teaching practices and guides classroom activities to support social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development.
• Maintains records of assessments and plans for individualized developments.
• Collaborates with Family Advocate on health, nutrition, and social services for families.
• Organizes parent/teacher conferences and home visits; coordinates with Family Advocate for follow-ups.
• Provides leadership for Teacher Assistant and classroom volunteers.
