Job summary

Northeast Kansas Community Action Program in Sabetha, KS is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support the Lead Teacher in a Head Start classroom for a ten-month term. The position involves implementing activities, maintaining safety, and helping manage a 15-20 child group of 3- to 5-year-olds.

You will transport children as needed, observe and document learning, and partner with families to foster development, under supervision of the Area Manager.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Associates in Early Childhood Education or CDA credential is preferred and encouraged to pursue.

Responsibilities

• Assist Teacher with daily classroom activities.
• Maintain adult:child ratio of 1:10 in the classroom.
• Transport children to and from school and field trips as needed.
• Prepare and set up lesson plans and materials as assigned.
• Maintain a safe, orderly, and engaging learning environment.
