Job summary

City of Chattanooga is seeking a Head Start Assistant Teacher for its Early Learning program. Under the supervision of the Head Start Teacher, you will support classroom routines, help implement curricula, and assist in promoting readiness for kindergarten at one of several Head Start campuses (Avondale, James A Henry, Cedar Hill, or Daisy).

Required qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED and a Preschool CDA or State Technical Early Childhood Certificate (credential within 6 months

Qualifications

• Minimum education: High School Diploma or GED.
• Preschool CDA or a State Technical Early Childhood Certificate required, or must be willing to obtain credential within 6 months.
• Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• 1 year experience in working with young children, either as a paid worker or as a volunteer, preferred.

• Assist the teacher in supporting the physical health and development of children.
• Implement curricula in the classroom with fidelity.
• Plan and implement learning experiences that promote all developmental areas.
