Job summary

Wateree Community Actions is seeking a dedicated Teacher Assistant to support Head Start students in Statesburg HS, Sumter, SC 29154. The role emphasizes a safe, nurturing learning environment and collaboration with families to promote children’s development across social, physical, emotional, cognitive, and nutritional domains.

Under supervision of a classroom teacher, you will assist in preparing materials, delivering developmentally appropriate activities, and maintaining daily schedules.

Qualifications

• Must have a CDA credential.
• Must have an associate or baccalaureate degree or be enrolled in a program leading to such a degree.
• Must have experience teaching pre-school age children.

Responsibilities

• Assists a teacher in preparing instructional materials and implementing activities.
• Assists in implementing developmentally appropriate activities.
• Maintains plan implementation, monitoring and record keeping.
• Follows positive discipline and confidentiality policies.
• Follows daily schedule provided by teacher.
• Provides constant supervision of children indoors and outdoors.
• Attends all pre-service and in-service training sessions.
• Performs related activities as assigned.
