Job summary

The Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis is seeking Teacher Assistants to support our Head Start/Early Head Start program.

You will assist in planning and delivering classroom activities that promote individual developmental experiences for children and ensure their health, safety, and welfare. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, with preferred associate degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of state regulations pertaining to child abuse and neglect.
• Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
• Ability to work well with staff, children and parents.
• Ability to follow directions and take initiative.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Background checks and health requirements as per policy.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and execution of classroom activities that provide individual developmental experiences for children.
• Responsibility for the health, safety, and personal welfare of assigned children.
• Promote parent involvement in the classroom.

Education

High School diploma

Associate's Degree or AS in Early Childhood Education or Child Development

CDA certification
